Position Title: Blend Picker I

Position Reports to: Production Manager

Location: Buford, GA

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

The Blend Operator is responsible for mixing all powder ingredients into blends for packaging. The operator needs to have an understanding of basic math calculations to ensure the blends are followed precisely.

General Responsibilities

  • Weigh and measure raw ingredients
  • Lift containers of powders into bins for blending
  • Keep work areas and tools clean at all times
  • Operate the blender
  • Securely package ingredients

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. up 4 steps
  • Basic math calculations
  • Detail-oriented

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to complete paperwork. Basic computer skills required. Excellent organizational, planning and attention to detail. Initiative to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision required. Good communication and interpersonal skills required.

  • Performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to herbal aromas, dust, and/or airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes, cold, and heat.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Actively participates in the safety program by: engaging in training activities to learn what constitutes a safety hazard; reporting safety concerns to the manager, submitting safety suggestions, and correcting or reporting to the appropriate people when an employee sees a workplace health or safety hazard, until it is resolved. Assists with communicating safety information to new employees. Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.
