Job Overview :

We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical systems in accordance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. You will work closely with the project and design teams, contractors, and clients to ensure that electrical systems are safely and effectively commissioned and handed over.

As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, your expertise will be critical in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of electrical systems, equipment, and infrastructure in complex projects. You will conduct testing, troubleshoot any issues, and provide solutions to ensure the systems meet operational standards and are ready for final handover.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Commissioning of Electrical Systems : Lead and manage commissioning activities for electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, backup systems, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and control panels, ensuring compliance with project requirements and safety standards.
  • System Testing and Verification : Conduct testing and verification of electrical systems and equipment. Perform functional checks, calibration, and fault detection to confirm that all electrical systems are operating according to the design specifications.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving : Identify and troubleshoot electrical faults, issues, or deficiencies during the commissioning process. Work to resolve problems efficiently, minimizing downtime and project delays.
  • Documentation and Reporting : Maintain thorough documentation of commissioning procedures, test results, reports, and any changes or deviations. Prepare detailed commissioning reports for clients, including final system acceptance documentation.
  • Collaboration with Project Teams : Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to ensure that commissioning activities are integrated smoothly into the overall project schedule. Communicate issues and progress effectively.
  • Compliance with Standards : Ensure that all electrical systems and commissioning activities adhere to industry standards (such as IEC, NFPA), local regulations, and project safety requirements.
  • Handover to Client : Provide the client with clear, concise, and thorough handover documentation, including operating instructions and maintenance procedures for the commissioned electrical systems. Offer technical support and training as necessary.
  • Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities for improvements in commissioning processes and systems. Contribute to the development and refinement of commissioning procedures and best practices.

Qualifications :

  • Education : Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or additional certifications (e.g., CxA, LEED) would be advantageous.
  • Experience : Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical commissioning within industrial, commercial, or construction sectors.
  • Technical Knowledge :
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, including power distribution, switchgear, transformers, and control systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical standards, codes, and safety regulations (e.g., IEC, NFPA).
  • Proficient in the use of commissioning tools and equipment such as multi-meters, insulation testers, and power analyzers.
  • Skills :
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong understanding of electrical system operation and functionality.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and other technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Certifications : Any relevant certifications such as CxA (Certified Commissioning Authority) or equivalent would be an asset.
  • Working Conditions :

  • Physical Demands : Ability to perform field-based work in a variety of environmental conditions, including site inspections and hands-on testing of electrical systems.
  • Travel Requirements : Some travel to project sites may be required, both locally and internationally.
  • Work Environment : A mix of office-based tasks and fieldwork. Must be comfortable working in construction environments and on live electrical systems.
