Job Description
As a Senior Network Engineer (Deployment), you will play a critical role in supporting network infrastructure for a federal government agency. This position involves gathering user network requirements, installing and maintaining network systems, performing technical refreshes, and deploying configurations for routers, switches, and firewalls at customer sites.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include troubleshooting complex network issues, supporting new hardware deployments, conducting architecture design studies, and collaborating with team members to develop new network designs. You will leverage your expertise in internetworking, computer systems, and network hardware to enhance current network infrastructure and contribute to service improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Gather user network requirements utilizing multiple methodologies to provide necessary technical documentation.
- Install, maintain, and evaluate network systems and communications systems.
- Perform technical refresh of routers, switches, and firewall devices at customer sites.
- Deploy device configurations and verify operability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues involving various protocols, topologies, and networking hardware.
- Provide testing and pilot support for new network hardware and configuration deployments/implementations.
- Conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies.
- Utilize knowledge of internetworking, computer systems, routers, switches, firewalls, and peripherals to enhance understanding of current network designs.
- Collaborate with team members to develop new network designs.
- Apply technical and business experience to improve processes and procedures for deploying and maintaining network infrastructure.
- Work independently and collectively to help improve network solutions and contribute to network service improvements.
- Provide excellent and professional customer service in all interactions.
- Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant Information Technology (IT) experience with specialization in networking technologies.
- Extensive experience with Cisco switches and routers.
- Strong background in resolving Local Area Network (LAN)/Wide Area Network (WAN) issues.
- Bachelor of Science degree (preferred) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related area.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Customer service orientation.
Nice-to-Haves
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
- Experience with Cisco Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN).
- Knowledge of Digital Network Administration (DNAC).
- Experience with network infrastructure in government environments.
- Background in implementing security controls for network systems.
- Project management experience.
- Experience with documentation and process improvement.
Education
- Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related area preferred.
