Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior UX Designer and Product Design Lead to oversee UX/UI designs and maintain a strong user-centric focus throughout product development. This role requires expertise in UX research, digital product design, and accessibility compliance. The Senior UX Designer will work closely with internal teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders to design and implement user-friendly interfaces that align with agency-wide standards and best practices.

The Senior UX Designer will also be responsible for translating research into user stories, wireframes, and prototypes while leading usability testing and outreach efforts to refine product usability. This position requires strong independent judgment and the ability to drive alignment across multiple projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversee UX/UI designs to ensure alignment with agency-wide standards and best practices.

• Translate research into user stories, requirements, flows, wireframes, and prototypes.

• Lead user testing and outreach efforts to validate design solutions.

• Partner with product teams, senior leadership, and stakeholders on design solutions.

• Collaborate with internal and external teams of designers, developers, and product managers.

• Ensure digital products comply with federal accessibility guidelines.

• Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes using Figma or comparable design software.

• Maintain strong organization and communication skills to facilitate cross-team collaboration.

Required Experience/Skills

• 8 years of experience in software product development, digital design, or UX/UI.

• 8 years of experience designing mockups and wireframes that conform to UX best practices.

• 8 years of experience conducting user research, usability testing, and accessibility compliance.

• 5 years of demonstrated writing and organizational skills.

• 5 years of experience in strong communication and facilitation.

• 4 years of experience leading large-scale UX/UI efforts.

• 4 years of documented experience developing wireframes, mockups, and prototypes in Figma or similar tools.

• 3 years of experience ensuring designs and websites conform to federal accessibility guidelines.

Nice-to-Haves

• 3 years of experience with Atlassian Jira for issue tracking.

• 2 years of experience working with state or local education agencies.
