POSITION SUMMARY:
The Application Specialist plays a critical role in the efficient management and support of institutional software and services. This position is responsible for assisting with system administration, providing advanced troubleshooting, and delivering training to end-users. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of software used in higher education, be skilled in problem analysis, data suitability assessment, testing, training, and ongoing support.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Software Administration: Assist in the configuration, maintenance, and optimization of assigned software/services, ensuring data accuracy and system performance. Example software includes Banner (with specific emphasis on the Finance and Financial Aid modules), Argos, and so on.
End-User Training: Develop and deliver training programs to educate end-users on system features, processes, and best practices.
Advanced Troubleshooting: lnvestigate and resolve complex technical issues related to the assigned software/services, working closely with end-users and IT support teams.
Data Suitability Assessment: Evaluate the quality and integrity of data within assigned software/services, identifying discrepancies and implementing data cleansing processes.
Testing: Pian, execute, and document testing procedures to validate system updates, enhancements, and patches.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and training materiais.
Support: Provide ongoing technical support to end-users, addressing their inquiries and issues promptly and effectively.
User Access Management: Manage user accounts, access permissions, and security settings within assigned software/services.
Reporting: ln partnership with other IT team members, generate and distribute reports and dashboards to end users as required.
System Optimization: Continuously identify opportunities for system improvements and efficiency enhancements.
Data lntegration: Collaborate with other IT professionals, as well as other departments to facilitate data integration and data flow between the assigned software/services and other institutional systems.
Security Compliance: Ensure that assigned software/services comply with data security and privacy regulations.
Vendor Communication: Liaise with vendors to report and resolve technical issues and coordinate software updates.
Process Automation: Collaborate with other IT professionals to develop automated solutions to streamline routine administrative tasks within assigned software/services.
User Feedback: Collect user feedback and input to inform system enhancements and feature requests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, ora related
- Strong problem-solving and analytical
- Excellent communication and training
- Familiarity with data analysis and reporting
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of experience in Higher Education software administration, support, and
- 5 years of experience with Ellucian
