Are you an experienced Fire Plan Reviewer/Inspector looking to work hourly/part-time in a progressive and innovative environment? Catawba County Emergency Services is recruiting (1) hourly/part-time Fire Plan Reviewer to enforce the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code through periodic fire plan review. The Fire Plan Reviewer is responsible for reviewing and ensuring compliance with the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of Catawba County residents. The role involves inspecting fire protection systems, providing feedback, and collaborating with contractors and project teams to ensure safe construction and renovation practices.
In this position, you may either work-from-home or in-office for plan reviews and inspections; however, periodic site visits to various locations across Catawba County, including both public and private properties, may be required. This position is hourly/part-time, working approximately 12 hours per week. No county benefits are associated with this position.
- Administering the enforcement of the NC Fire Prevention Code through fire plan reviews and inspections
- Written reporting and data entry of fire plan reviews
- Responds to public questions and concerns
- May complete periodic site visits to various locations across Catawba County
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, supplemented by special training in fire inspection/service work and fire prevention education, and a minimum of one year of specific experience completing Fire Plan reviews
- REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:
- NC Standard Level III Fire Inspection
- ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800
- Valid NC Driver's License with a safe driving record
Additional Requirements:
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing fire plans and identifying compliance issues
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interpret and apply building codes and fire prevention regulations
- Proficiency with fire inspection tools and software (e.g., Blue Beam)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Possess integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
Preferences:
- Degree in architecture, engineering or fire science
- Experience in fire protection design, construction or inspection.
