Catawba County Social Services is recruiting a dynamic leader with a high focus on teamwork and customer service as well as a strong background in business and social work functions to fill the Program Manager I — Senior Nutrition Programs role. This position provides leadership, oversight, and day-to-day management for the following programs: Seniors Morning Out, Home Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels), and Frozen Meals.
The Program Manager advocates for older adults, supporting their ability to maintain good health, stay socially connected, and live at home for as long as possible. The role involves close collaboration with community partners – including businesses, civic groups, faith-based organizations, and individuals to ensure seniors have consistent access to Nutrition Services. The Program Manager also ensures all services meet mandated standards, working in a meaningful and rewarding environment dedicated to delivering the highest quality support to seniors in our community.
- Management and leadership of services falling under the Senior Nutrition Program.
- Supervision and coaching of ten (10) staff including recruitment, training, coordinating schedules and daily activities, discipline, and performance evaluations.
- Provides oversight and support for the Volunteer Coordinator, who typically manages 700-800 volunteers. Ensures effective coordination, supervision, and monitoring of volunteer activities.
- Assure nutrition programs operate according to standards and within budget, comply with health regulations and safe food practices, and ensure site facilities meet health standards and customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with the caterer to ensure high quality meals, meeting state safety and nutritional standards.
- Analyze the program budget and develop strategic plans to ensure accurate billing, collection, and reporting of donations and contributions from multiple funding sources. Provide oversight of grant management, ensure precise expenditure reporting, and maintain accurate accounting of Farmers’ Market voucher distribution and usage.
- Contract development, including writing contracts and negotiation of rates and fees with various vendors and facility sites.
- Coordination and networking within the community to increase community awareness of programs offered to seniors.
- Develop and implement ongoing community outreach activities, marketing programs, and fundraising activities.
- Master's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or Business Administration, and 3 years of professional and/or program management experience in social services, human services, or non-profit work, including 1 year in a supervisory or other advanced leadership role; OR
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Public Administration, or Business Administration, and 4 years of professional and/or program management experience in social services, human services, or non-profit work, including 1 year in a supervisory or other advanced leadership role
