GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Online Learning Facilitator will serve as a student advocate to provide direction and support by creating and monitoring processes that will ensure student success in multiple online learning environments.
**This position is temporary and will end on 5/30/2025**
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide orientation for students taking online classes to ensure understanding of expectations for online learning programs (e.g., Online Catawba, NCVPS, etc.) to ensure students understand navigation and expectations.
- Coordinate, schedule, and participate in face-to-face or virtual conferences with teachers, students, and/or parents.
- Use the student information system (PowerSchool) to locate students' schedules, parent/student contact information, etc.
- Communicate and collaborate with online instructors for reporting grades, attendance, participation, and other processes such as testing requirements.
- Communicate and collaborate with the school/district testing coordinators to ensure students understand testing expectations and are testing in an approved testing environment.
- Monitor student grades, and report students who are not performing well (60% or below) to the principal and director of online learning.
- If students fall below 60%, the online learning facilitator (OLF) serves as the first point of contact for teachers, students, and parents.
- OLFs make initial contact with students to inquire about reasons/causes for lack of success.
- OLFs provide any necessary technical support for students and report results of inquiry back to the teacher, counselor, administrators, and/or director of online learning.
- OLFs communicate with parents to promote parent involvement for student success.
- Keep attendance as required for students who participate in online courses in a face-to-face environment at the school.
- Assist with coordinating, ordering, distributing, and collecting (partnering with district and school textbook coordinators) textbooks and instructional materials for online courses.
- Assist students who take instruction in a lab setting at the school.
- Coordinate registrations and withdrawals for students enrolled in NCVPS and Apex courses.
- This includes working with school counselors and/or administrators to make sure students have any necessary prerequisite courses.
- Coordinate with data managers to make sure all courses and grades are placed on the student’s report card and transcript.
- Work with the school’s testing coordinator to coordinate any testing that is mandated by the course or by the state.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs other related duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school and additional technical training is preferred. Ability to work well with students and faculty.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Physical Requirements: Requires light physical work. Must be able to lift up to ten pounds. Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods of time.
Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving instructions, assignments or directions to staff and students.
Language Ability: Requires the ability to read simple forms and reports. Requires the ability to prepare data sheets using the prescribed format.
Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English.
Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to add, subtract, divide and multiply.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate levels of stress.
Physical Communications: Requires the ability to talk, write and hear.
