What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct Faculty, Curriculum-General Pool position at Catawba Valley Community College?
Curriculum Adjunct faculty members provide instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, as needed basis. Courses may be seated, online, or hybrid.
Part-time faculty postings are a part of Catawba Valley Community College's efforts to expand our pool of adjunct instructors. Openings for these positions may or may not be available at this time, however, applications from qualified applicants will be kept on file and may be contacted at a later date.

This job posting is being used to capture a pool of qualified adjunct faculty candidates and does not imply an open position exists at this time. Adjunct faculty are part-time, non-salaried faculty who are paid for each class taught, hired on an as-needed basis, and considered temporary in nature.
Applications for this position will remain active for one (1) year and will be evaluated only when a specific need occurs.

Examples of Duties
Provide effective instruction to students online and/or in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance.
Ensure teaching and working environment (classroom, lab, shop) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards.
Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines.
Maintain ADA Compliance for all course materials.
Qualifications
General Education requirements:
College Transfer Courses: Typically Master's degree required in a related field; and/or Master's degree in an unrelated field with at least 18 graduate hours completed in related coursework.
Non-transferable Courses: Bachelor's degree in a directly related field.
Industrial or Vocational Courses: Qualifications vary; typically require an Associate's Degree and/or industry-specific certifications.
All coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Knowledge of:
Principles and procedures of academic and institutional program development in relevant field
Current trends, research, developments, and resources in relevant field
Federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as they relate to students and teaching
Ability to:
Create effective instruction for delivery both online and in the classroom
Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
Work effectively in diverse teams, both within assigned department and cross-functionally across the college
Interpret and apply college goals, policies, and procedures
Maintain any relevant equipment and supplies related to instruction

All adjunct positions are contingent upon enrollment needs and funding.

Copies of all unofficial degree transcripts, including coursework completed and degree conferred, must be provided during the on-line application process. Official transcripts are required to be forwarded to the CVCC Personnel Office upon hire.
