Art Instructor, Part-Time

Description College instructor in college-transfer Art with teaching/instruction as the primary duty. Adjunct faculty members provide instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, as needed basis. Courses may be seated, online, or hybrid. Examples of Duties Provide effective instruction to students online and/or in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance. Ensure teaching and working environment (classroom, lab, shop) by maintaining equipment and supplies, ensuring overall cleanliness, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards. Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines. May include teaching assignments at various locations including the CVCC Alexander Center in Taylorsville, NC, and local area high schools. May include assignments teaching high school students. Qualifications Education requirements: Master's degree in Art (or related area) with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Art required. All coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution. Community college teaching experience preferred. Experience in traditional studio instruction preferred. Knowledge of: Principles and procedures of academic and institutional program development in relevant field Current trends, research, developments, and resources in relevant field Federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as they relate to students and teaching Ability to: Create effective instruction for delivery both online and in the classroom Communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing Work effectively in diverse teams, both within assigned department and cross-functionally across the college Interpret and apply college goals, policies, and procedures Maintain any relevant equipment and supplies related to instruction Supplemental Information All adjunct positions are contingent upon enrollment needs and funding. All employees paid by direct deposit. Copies of all unofficial degree transcripts, including coursework completed and degree conferred, must be provided during the on-line application process. Official transcripts are required to be forwarded to the CVCC Personnel Office upon hire.
