Description
On-Going recruitment for part-time instructors to teach Biology courses. Availability of contract hours and schedule (day or evening) dependent on need for future semesters.
All courses taught will be seated sections; no online courses are available.
Examples of Duties
College Instructor in college-transfer Biology with teaching/instruction as the primary duty. Assisting with instructional and curriculum design.
Provide effective instruction to students in the classroom by preparing for each learning experience, providing supplemental materials to enhance textbooks and lessons, and using effective evaluation methods to measure student performance.
Ensure teaching and working environment (classroom and lab) by following and enforcing safety and security protocol, ensuring overall cleanliness and proper waste disposal, functionality, and conformance to OSHA standards.
Maintain accurate records (such as attendance, grades, documentation for accreditation, etc.) and submit any corresponding reports according to departmental or college guidelines.
Ability to work afternoons, evenings, and possibly Saturdays. Seated courses, with the possibility of hybrids and/or online courses in the future.
Qualifications
MS in Biology or related field. If MS is in related field, at least 18 graduate hours in BIO required. Experience teaching college level Biology a plus. Ability to use technology and online ancillaries a plus.
Community college teaching experience preferred.
Teaching experience in both traditional instruction and distance education preferred.
