What are the responsibilities and job description for the Data Analyst - CVMG IT / Information Systems / Full Time position at Catawba Valley Medical Center?
Summary of Performance Expectations:
The Data Analyst creates reports, fulfills data request, develops scripted services and provides consultation when needed. The Data Analyst builds and maintains expertise with the assigned software applications and the software lifecycle (data elements, data tables, business process, requirements, design, development, testing, deployment and training).
The analyst ensures and provides the following:
- Data integrity and accuracy of work products by consulting with department directors, managers, super users, and collaborates with health system analysts as applicable.
- Consults with stakeholders during application acquisitions to ensure the scope and objective are understood and requirements are met
- Demonstrates the ability to interpret business needs and distill into manageable components
- Identifies improvements to enhance system efficiencies and performance
- Document processes, constructs use cases and develop reporting workflows as needed
- Obtains expertise with tools needed to perform job related duties such as report writers and Microsoft office products.
- Ensure data element documentation is available and maintained; data is classified as to retention and access control; maintain knowledge of vendor data structures; understand and document flows of data between systems and/or outside organizations
- Perform periodic audits of data using tools, utilities, query languages, report writers, etc. for accuracy and to ensure maximum functionality it utilized
- Schedules and tests report software upgrades and package deployments, working with super users and other stakeholders as necessary
- Serves as Project Manager for data sharing CVMG IT Projects
- Setup, monitor and provide support for new and existing integrated Interfaces
- Setup, Monitor and provide support for SFTPs
- Provides data setup, support and monitor compliance of quality improvement reporting initiatives
- Assists with special projects when necessary
Education & Credentials:
Required
Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field. Other directly related education may be substituted for degree.
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
Work Experience:
Required
Two years of previous experience as a Data Analyst or in the Health Information Data Management field. Advanced computer skills with clinical software applications. Experience with Compliance Issues including HIPAA, ICD-10 and CPT coding. Experienced with information system database applications. Given training and on-the-job experience, incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date.
Preferred
Five years experience as a Data Analyst in a Healthcare setting.
