Summary of Performance Expectations. Directs and coordinates the activities of the nursing staff to provide nursing care appropriate to the age of the patients served, incorporating knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life-span. Assesses and interprets data about patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provides the care needed by the patient group. Participates in the planning, development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Is responsible for the fiscal and human resource management of the unit. Responsible for adhering to CVMC policies and procedures; abiding by the CVMC Nursing Bylaws; and practicing within the guidelines of the North Carolina State Nurse Practice Act. Education and Credentials: Required
• Graduate of accredited BSN nursing program.
• Current NC RN license or licensure from Nursing Compact State.
• BCLS certification. If the BCLS certification is not from the American Heart Association (AHA), an AHA certification is required within three months of employment date. Preferred Obtains national nursing certification in specialty area of practice. Work Experience: Required Five years nursing experience. Served in the capacity of one or more of the following: charge nurse, preceptor, team lead, successfully led projects, or BCLS, ACLS, PALS instructor. Effective 11/01/16, newly employed and current employees transferring into this role are required to possess the five or more years of nursing experience along with experience as charge nurse, preceptor, team lead, successfully leading projects, or BCLS, ACLS, PALS instructor. Demonstrates leadership potential. Given training and on-the-job experience incumbent should be proficient in the basic aspects of the job within three months of employment date. Preferred
