About the Role
Catawba is committed to delivering exceptional educational services to its students. As an EC Support Specialist, you will be instrumental in ensuring the success of our students with disabilities.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide support and guidance to schools and other service providers in the county. This will involve facilitating, monitoring, and supporting Child Find, initial referral, eligibility, and the implementation of all services and supports required for students with disabilities.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaboration and Communication: Effectively collaborate and use a problem-solving approach with other school professionals, parents, and community agencies to assess needs and develop supports, services, and programs for students with disabilities.
- Professional Development: Assist with planning and implementing inservice activities for special education program compliance, eligibility, case management, and lead groups of teachers through training sessions as needed.
- Confidentiality and Professionalism: Respect and protect confidentiality with respect to student information, consistently follow through with any plans outlined by the EC support team or directives given by the immediate supervisor and/or district leadership.
Requirements:
- Certification and Experience: Certification in Special Education, preferably with additional hours in special education law and/or school administration. Five or more years' experience teaching exceptional children.
- Skillset: Strong interpersonal and conferencing skills, certification in Mentor and NCEES Training.
