What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of IT Infrastructure position at Catch Talent?
The Director of IT Infrastructure is a leader of a cross functional team who plans, builds and manages diverse technology infrastructure functions including Servers, Storage & Backup, Virtualization, Database, Middleware, and Automation. Responsible for Data Center, Capacity, Refresh and Retirement, and Business Continuity strategic planning and design. Design and reporting of infrastructure KPIs, Audit and Security compliance, and Infrastructure program and project management services.
- Directs teams, ensuring they are working together effectively. Partners with and integrates across other areas of the company, resolving conflicts and managing competing priorities, to provide a complete solution.
- Accountable for the technical direction of the group, develops the infrastructure strategy and road map, and ensures its integration with the broader IT and enterprise strategic plans.
- Translates Company and IT strategies into tactical direction for their team. Re-prioritizes and reallocates resources as appropriate based on changing business needs.
- Designs and sets department objectives and participates in setting division and/or corporate-related goals.
- Ensures quality, compliance, and fiscal standards are met for the department.
- Leads the evaluation of emerging Infrastructure technologies and tools
- Leads the implementation of technology solutions to meet multiple clients’ requirements.
- Establish key performance indicators and service level objectives for continually improving the performance of IT operations
- Is seen by business partners as a strategic partner and key resource to escalate problems and to receive guidance and complete solutions.
- Manages the successful resolution of client issues, including competing demands, sensitive situations, and conflicts within their organization and/or with other teams.
- Oversees the monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and administration of IT systems, including, servers, storage, and database to achieve availability, performance, and security objectives.
- Reviews performance and capacity of IT systems to manage the optimization of operating costs, improve operational efficiency, increase reliability and performance, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
- Responsible for IT disaster recovery, including planning, documentation, implementation, and testing for all platforms.
- Manages 3rd party vendors and service providers; performance and SLAs, incident handling and issue/problem resolution and escalation
- Implements strategies to attract, retain, motivate, and develop talent in their organization.
- Improves work procedures and processes for areas managed continually.
- Communicates clearly and precisely with all levels of the company.
- Ensures that key business and IT information is disseminated through their organization.
- Directs multiple projects, within their technical discipline. This typically includes:
- Supporting the project team to ensure success, including removing roadblocks and helping the team to navigate the organization. Identifying when additional funding and/or resources are needed based on scope changes.
- Partners across the IT organization to support departmental projects and deliver the technology portfolio.
Requirements:
- Typical candidates will possess 8-10 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Experience with Citrix Environment, MS Exchange, Windows, and Palo Alto Firewalls
- Proven track record of continuous development of staff
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels are necessary
- Able to work well under pressure and deadline driven environment
- Possesses broad technical expertise in IT infrastructure and the ability to identify and leverage technical experts.
- Exercises judgment and influence on key technical decisions (e.g., standards and policies, environment selection, technical solutions) within their area.
- Ensures that technical expertise is maintained and appropriately leveraged in their area(s).
- Stays up to date on the activities of competitors and the industry in general both for IT and Company. Maintains a thorough and current understanding of best practices in the technology industry and implements as appropriate in their technical/functional area.
