Role Overview: As a QC Testing Technician, you will be responsible for conducting detailed tests on electrical systems, ensuring the integrity of connections, components, and compliance with design standards. Your role will also involve documenting and tracking testing procedures, working closely with engineers, and ensuring all systems meet UL and NEC regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test Electrical Connections: Conduct pull tests on wires to ensure good connections and verify proper labeling of all wires.
- Inspect Fuses and Components: Ensure fuses are correct per design standards and verify that all components match the correct sizes and voltage ratings.
- Component Functionality: Apply required voltage to components and ensure they operate correctly.
- UL and NEC Compliance: If applicable, ensure control panels meet UL standards via schematic review and apply UL identification stickers as required.
- Documentation: Complete check sheets and verify quality before handing off to the shipping department.
- Database Tracking: Log all time spent on jobs using the Epicor database and track progress using the traveler supplied with the drawings.
Education & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 2 years of prior experience in electrical testing or a related field preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics.
- Familiarity with AC-DC circuits, Ohm’s Law, and Watt’s Law.
- Knowledge of NEC and UL508A standards as applied to industrial control panels.
- Basic understanding of PLC hardware and ladder logic.
- Understanding of motor control systems, AC and DC drives, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Familiarity with electrical measurements using a digital multimeter.
- Basic computer skills required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and bend for extended periods as part of routine tasks.
Additional Skills & Competencies:
- Leadership & Mentoring: Ability to guide and mentor fellow technicians.
- Motor Control & Automation: Experience with advanced motor control and automation systems, as well as troubleshooting and process controller programming.
- Drive Systems & Transformers: Knowledge of AC/DC drives, motors, and transformer connections.
