The Production Manager/Assistant Plant Manager assists the Plant Manager in all aspects of overseeing plant operations. Responsibilities include supporting the overall operation of the facility and providing functional direction to the production team. The incumbent with collaborate with the Plant Manager to execute strategic goals, supervise day to day operations and play a key role in delivering and sustaining profitable growth, while sustaining safety and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Communicate corporate objectives, drive expectations, ensure safety, quality and production metrics are being met.
- Ensure safety is the highest priority within the facility; strive for continuous improvement in compliance with federal, state and company directives.
- Lead by example, coach and develop the supervisory team centered around the Company’s core values
- Develop and maintain strong working relationship with all facility employees.
- Ensure facility focuses on a positive customer experience, including prompt communication, accurate information, and consistent delivery.
- Focus on continuous improvement in all areas of facility management. Develop and propose improvement plans for senior leadership consideration.
- Help maintain key performance metrics for the operation
- Support the financial stewardship for the facility, including cost management across the facility.
- Responsible for helping ensure companywide programs, policies, and procedures are implemented effectively within the facility.
Coordinate internal and external resources as needed to provide Team Member training, endeavor for efficiency improvements, and reduce quality non-conformances
Qualifications
- Preference for bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
- 3-5 years exprience in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment.
- 3 years of progressive management experience managing multiple levels with well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to run a successful operation.
- Analytical thinker with the ability to translate strategies into operation objectives and projects.
- Strong analytical skills, self-motivated with excellent teamwork.
- Goal oriented and a strong customer service attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective use of standard office computer technology such as databases, word processing, ERP, and reporting systems.
- Knowledge of General Accounting Principles and effective accounting controls.
- Requires the ability to manage and prioritize multiple goals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
With the exception of clerical, administrative, and some management positions, which require indoor work, the physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, dry/arid and dusty conditions. The environment requires working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, in high and low precarious places, confined spaces.
The work type is best described as heavy, hands-on mechanical work. Work is very physical, and without proper work planning can result in out of position pushing, pulling and lifting. Proper body mechanics, positioning and lifting techniques can be very important. Employees are urged to seek help when needed with heavier tasks, and to use lifting equipment where necessary. The positioning of the work being performed can change very frequently.
Tools used: Various heavier air and electric powered tools are used, such as car jacks, impact wrenches, and grinders are used daily. Work also requires frequent use of hand wrenches, hammers, chisels, socket wrenches, and ladders. Cutting torches are also used, with welding equipment used upon qualification of employee.
