Summary Description
The Location Quality Manager is responsible for executing the Cathcart Rail Quality Assurance plan within the assigned location. Ensures that quality products are delivered to our customers. Comprehends and implements programs and processes to ensure that Cathcart products are safe, legal, and meet or exceed customer expectations as well as ensures compliance with customer specifications, Federal regulations as well as AAR MSRPs. Manages Quality/Quality Assurance Team Members and activities in support of business objectives within the assigned location.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides management and leadership to facility QA Team Members
- Integrates quality functions into a multi-discipline work environment
- Plan and assign duties to QA Team Members to verify a quality product is delivered to the customer on a consistent, repeatable basis.
- Quality decisions are guided by adherence to the Quality Program and customer specification.
- Holds subordinates accountable for budgets, schedules, performance standards
- Responsible for the activities at the assigned facility and capable of supporting the Quality program at multiple operating facilities as needed.
- Establishes and integrates organization operational objectives and assignments for delivery of a quality product.
- Manages and executes The Quality Program for the assigned location to ensure delivery of a quality product to ARS customers.
- Responsible for executing facility-level Quality Programs and customer specification training for new and existing Team Members
Qualifications
Job Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Ongoing training combining both online and offsite resources will be required
- 3 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; experience supervising railcar repairmen preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of railcars and tank car anatomy; 8 to 10 years of railcar repair experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of AAR/FRA/ ARS & Car Owner railcar maintenance standards preferred. Proficient within 1 year of employment
- Prior experience with quality processes and procedures including TQM, ISO 9000, M-1003, SPC, QS 9000, Process Management / Continuous Improvement preferred.
- AAR M-1003 Basic Auditor, Advanced Auditor preferred ISO-9001 Lead Auditor, ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, or equivalent audit certificate (may be obtained within the first 6 months of employment).
- Weld Facilitator Designee required (may be obtained with first 6 months of employment)
- Ability and willingness to meet all internal and external customer and regulator suitability requirements required.
- NDT-VT, Level II preferred
- Air Brake Certification per S-486 or ARS inhouse Air Brake Program Preferred (may be obtained within 1 year of employment)
- Air Brake Trainer Designee within 1 year of employment
