JOB SUMMARY:
The Head Boys/Girls Swim Coach position at Cathedral High School involves the development and leadership of a competitive swim program that aligns with our Holy Cross Values. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills to effectively manage a comprehensive program encompassing practice sessions, competitions, and school spirit. This role requires an individual capable of inspiring student-athletes and promoting sportsmanship while possessing exceptional coaching abilities, leadership qualities, and a profound understanding of competitive swimming. QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field (master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years’ coaching experience in competitive swimming and/or diving, preferably at the high school level
- Strong knowledge of swimming and diving techniques, training methodologies, and competitive strategies
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Must be able to communicate well with parents, athletes and the athletic department
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement training programs tailored to enhance the performance of our swim team
- Conduct practice sessions, focusing on technique, endurance, and competitive strategies
- Manage swim meets, including scheduling events and coordinating logistics
- Monitor student-athlete academic performance and promote the balance between academics and athletics
- Evaluate individual athlete performance, providing constructive feedback to facilitate improvement
- Lead fundraising initiatives to support the swim program as needed
- Manage the swim team budget, schedule games and practices, help to arrange transportation, and oversee uniform distribution
- Familiarity with IHSAA rules and regulations
- CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard certification preferred
