What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Center Services RN & Wellness Manager position at Cathedral Village?
The RN Health Center Services & Wellness Manager is responsible for the organization, supervision, administration and overall management of the community health program. Responsible for the health care needs of the Independent Living Community. Manages community health function and supervises community personnel as well as making critical decisions regarding the health care of the residents.
Qualifications:
- Active state professional nursing license (RN) required
- Maintains or able to obtain CPR certification required
- One-year experience or education in nursing service administration and supervision required
- Two-years’ experience in gerontological/long-term care experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate the health status of a resident followed by a plan of action consistent with quality nursing practices required
- Working knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations
- Ability to instruct, direct and lead staff
Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Administers medications and treatments in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and with the facility policies and procedures.
- Implements and maintains nursing policies, procedures, objectives and standards of practice for community health.
- Develops, initiates and alters an interdisciplinary plan of action in consultation with physician, Health Center Administrator, Director of Nursing, Director of Admissions and Executive Director.
- Responsible for or makes recommendations regarding the recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, supervision and implementation corrective action for community health staff.
- May serve as Employee Health Nurse; responsibilities may include: coordination of pre-employment medical requirements, scheduling of annual tuberculosis and bi-annual physical testing and provision of staff immunizations.
- Annually valuates job performance of community health staff.
- Prepares community health staff schedules within budgetary guidelines, providing adequate staff to assure quality of care.
- Conducts regular staff meetings for purposes of planning, coordinating and implementing policies and procedures.
- Conducts community health outreach programs on a regular basis.
- Conducts annual care conferences with Independent Living residents for evaluation and data gathering of health care status.
- Assists the Health Center Administrator or Executive Director in the development of the annual department budget.
- Assists the Administrator or Executive Director maintain fiscal control of the department as measured by monthly financial statements.
- Utilizes services of Licensed Home Health Agency, when appropriate.
- Knowledgeable of residents’ conditions through rounds, personal visits and chart review.
- Reports serious changes in residents’ health status to the Health Center Administrator, Medical Director and Executive Director.
- Actively participates in all required in-service programs and staff meetings, including program presentation.
- Actively participates in the community Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Program.
- Uses standard precautions to prevent spread of communicable diseases.
- Enforces and trains proper infection control practices to staff, residents and visitors.
- Assists the Medical Director with Independent Living resident visits and evaluations.
