Light Equipment Operator/Groundskeeper

The Catholic Cemeteries Association of the Archdiocese of Hartford, Inc. is currently seeking a Light Equipment operator/Groundskeeper to join our crew! In this role, you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of maintenance and cemetery-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cemetery grounds using zero-turn mowers and string trimmers.

• Assist in digging and filling graves.

• Perform burial/entombment services.

• Complete installation of monument foundations and setting of monuments.

• Complete installation and maintenance of flush markers.

• Complete cemetery clean-ups and improvement projects.

• Work with a variety of hand tools including, shovels, rakes, hedge trimmers, string trimmers, etc.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.

• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

• Must have a reliable mode of transportation.

• Must be able to lift weights up to 80 lbs. or more with assistance. Position requires heavy physical effort with proper bending, squatting, stretching, pushing, climbing, dragging, and pulling.

• Must be dependable and work well with others.

• Must serve a three-month probationary period.

• Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug/alcohol screening.

Working Conditions

Work is performed outdoors. Grounds crew is exposed to all types of weather throughout the year. This includes sun, heat and humidity, cold, rain, snow and wind. They are subject to noise, vibration, dirt, dust, and mud.

Experience

3-5 years previous experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, operation of backhoe or other related labor experience is preferable. We will train motivated applicants.

Salary

$32.94 per hour, progresses in accordance with union contract.
