Dean of Students/Full-Time: Reports to Principal
Term: School Year 2025-2026
Position Summary: The Dean of Students at Catholic Central School is responsible for fostering a positive, faith-filled learning environment that supports student growth, discipline, and character development. This individual will oversee student conduct, promote a culture of respect and accountability, and ensure students uphold the school’s Catholic values. Additionally, the Dean of Students will work collaboratively with the administration, faculty, parents, and coaches to support the school’s robust athletics program as an integral part of student development.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Life & Discipline
– Promote and enforce the school’s Catholic mission, values, and behavioral expectations.
– Develop and implement student discipline policies and procedures with fairness, consistency, and restorative justice principles.
– Serve as the primary point of contact for student behavior issues, working closely with faculty, parents, and counselors to address concerns.
– Foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and accountability among students.
– Oversee student attendance policies and procedures, working with families to support student engagement and success.
– Support student wellness initiatives, including mental health awareness, anti-bullying efforts, and social-emotional development programs.
Athletics & Student Engagement
– Collaborate with the Athletic Director to ensure student-athletes uphold academic and behavioral expectations.
– Encourage a positive and disciplined athletic culture aligned with Catholic teachings.
– Address student concerns related to balancing academics, athletics, and personal development.
– Support school-wide events, including athletic competitions, spirit activities, and leadership initiatives.
– Serve as a liaison between administration and coaching staff to promote student success on and off the field.
– Be responsible for covering evening activities and co-curricular activities as needed.
Community & Faith Formation
– Support faith-based initiatives, retreats, service programs, and student leadership development.
– Serve as a visible and engaged presence in school life, including Masses, assemblies, and extracurricular activities.
– Work with Campus Ministry to integrate Catholic identity into discipline and student programming.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
– Strong understanding of Catholic teachings and commitment to fostering faith-based education.
– Experience working with student discipline and conflict resolution.
– Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
– Passion for student development, athletics, and faith-based formation.
Preferred Qualifications:
– Experience coaching or working with high school athletic programs.
– Familiarity with academic and behavioral support systems in a Catholic school setting.
– Ability to engage diverse student populations and foster inclusivity.
