Community Engagement Specialist - Marisol Services

Full Time, 40 hours per week.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: 

A Community Engagement Specialist - Marisol Services:

Works with the Marisol Health and Marisol Family Directors, Marisol Health and Marisol Family staff, MH volunteers and in cooperation with The Catholic Charities Marketing and Communications team, to create awareness, and increase funding for Marisol Health and Marisol Family. Interacts with donors, parishes and community partners in order to strengthen Marisol Health and Marisol Family relationships and support base for our life-affirming mission. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Community Outreach: 

  • Establish working relationships with faith-based and life-affirming community organizations in our targeted geographic regions. 

  • Establish working relationships within the local parishes and churches, to strengthen networking, provide resources, and increase referrals. 

  • Seek opportunities to promote the services of Marisol Health and Marisol Family at faith-based events/networking groups/conferences/etc. 

  • Develop, train, promote and establish a partnership program with area churches to establish partnership, in conjunction with the Volunteer and Parish relations team.  

Donor/Volunteer Engagement: 

  • In partnership with the Director and the Marketing and Community Engagement team plan, promote, and organize events and volunteer opportunities to expand engagement with and support for Marisol Services in northern Colorado. 

  • Act as lead for Marisol Health and Marisol Family Meet and Greets in collaboration with the Directors, Marketing and Communications team. 

  • Follow-up with Donors identified at Marisol Health and Marisol Family events. Send Thank you notes within 30 days of event or donation with the assistance of Marisol Family Community Engagement Specialist. 

  • In collaboration with the Mission Advancement team, encourage local communities to become monthly supporters of Marisol Health and Marisol Family by fostering relationships, writing proposals (as appropriate), meeting with financial decision makers. Follow­ up in person and in writing. 

  • Works with Bottom Line Diaper Bank to fundraise for Marisol Family during diaper drives and Mother’s Day Card Sales to include scheduling pick up/drop off of diapers and cards collected/ purchased.  

Volunteer Coordination 

  • Recruit and support volunteers for Marisol Health and Marisol Family.  

  • Create opportunities for volunteer engagement and coordinate individual and group volunteer projects. 

  • Coordinate with the Marketing and Community Engagement team to outreach to potential individuals and groups to promote volunteer participation in Marisol Health and Marisol Family ministries. 

Task Orientation:  

  • Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics. 

  • Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect. 

  • Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery. 

  • Maintains confidentiality of client and agency information. 

  • Regular and predictable attendance.  

  • Meet regularly with Marisol Health and Marisol Family Directors to report on activities and outcomes and to participate in strategic planning for community engagement and fundraising. 

  • Maintain a working spreadsheet of all contacts/activities. 

  • May act as a program representative with various community committees and agencies. 

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrates strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.   

  • Demonstrates knowledge and experience in trauma-informed practice.  

  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, other employees, organizations and the public are required.   

  • Flexible and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.   

  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.  

  • Intermediate knowledge of computers and office equipment, such as printers, fax machines, etc.  

  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Communications or related field, from accredited four-year college or university; and six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: 

  1. Valid CO driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and proof of insurance required. 
     

LANGUAGE SKILLS 
 
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. 
 
REASONING ABILITY: 

 
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary: $23.00-$25.00 per hour (full-time) 40 hours per week

Training: We provide a robust training curriculum that will support our employees throughout their career.  Training provided within the first year of employment includes: De-escalation & Safety; Public Speaking; Mental Health First Aid; Substance Abuse & Mental Health; Human Trafficking; Trauma Informed Care; and many more.
