PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Early Childhood Education Mental Health Manager is responsible for supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of children enrolled in early childhood education programs. This role involves collaborating with educators, families, and external mental health professionals to identify, assess, and address the social-emotional needs of young children.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serves as a member of the ECE leadership team.
  • Coordinate and facilitate mental health screenings and assessments for children in early childhood education programs.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans for children with identified mental health concerns or social-emotional challenges.
  • Provide training and guidance to educators and staff on recognizing signs of mental health issues and implementing supportive strategies in the classroom.
  • Collaborate with families to promote positive mental health practices at home and facilitate access to community resources and support services.
  • Serve as a liaison between early childhood education programs, mental health agencies, and other community stakeholders to ensure coordinated care and support for children and families.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of mental health interventions and services provided, adjusting plans as needed to meet the evolving needs of children and families.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to mental health screenings, assessments, and interventions in compliance with relevant regulations and confidentiality requirements.
  • Stay informed about best practices, research findings, and emerging trends in early childhood mental health to inform program development and service delivery.
  • Participate in professional development activities and seek opportunities for continuous learning and growth in the field of early childhood mental health.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Good steward of Agency human, financial and capital resources
  • Participates effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving.
  • Participates in staff trainings and programs as required.
  • Any other tasks or duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervising Mental Health Consultants in ECE and their consultant work.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • licensed (LPC, LCSW, LMFT).
  • Previous experience/expertise working with young children and families in educational or mental health settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care principles, and evidence-based practices in early childhood mental health.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and build positive relationships with children, families, and community partners.
  • Sensitivity to cultural diversity and a commitment to promoting equity and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail in managing caseloads and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in relevant technology and data management systems.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master’s degree in early childhood education, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary: $60,000 - $68,000 

Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. 

Training: We provide a robust training curriculum that will support our employees throughout their career.  Training provided within the first year of employment includes: De-escalation & Safety; Public Speaking; Mental Health First Aid; Substance Abuse & Mental Health; Human Trafficking; Trauma Informed Care; and many more.

  • Extensive Paid Time Off including 15 Paid Holidays annually (4 weeks accrual for new employees - increasing yearly) promoting work life balance.
