Direct Care workers are responsible for the oversight of the 24-hour program operation while maintaining a safe, secure and comfortable living environment for the families in residence of the facility. The Lead Direct Care Worker is responsible for working closely with the Shelter Manager and other employees to ensure the functions of the program needs are met.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Oversee weekly inventory of agency supplies and food and to shop as needed to maintain adequate resources.
- Assist Shelter Manager with coordination of employee training.
- Maintain current and accurate documentation of program evening activities for volunteerism, residents’ chores, program meetings and trainings.
- Assigns resident’s chores, lockers, and cabinets upon entry to the shelter. Complete room safety monitoring by checking effectiveness of smoke detector, child window safety guard, electrical outlets, and other mechanics prior to move-in date.
- Work with Direct Care employees to organize and prepare resident rooms prior to move-in date with bedding supplies.
- Work is performed in a residential shelter setting.
- Provide coverage as needed for the office and front desk.
- Adhere to program training which includes reading available informational materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with clients in residential setting.
- CPR certified for emergency situations. Must participate in training for re-certification to maintain current certification.
- Experience working with diverse and difficult client populations.
- Willingness to teach direct care employees’ and volunteers’ daily responsibilities of the program.
- Attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and other spreadsheet applications.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with empathy and patience.
- Must be able to physically respond to situations quickly for day to day and emergency matters while maintaining a calm demeanor.
- Ability to bend , squat and lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
- A valid driver’s license, adequate auto insurance and good driving record for local travel.
