The Vice President of Family and Youth Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership for all aspects of this core service area which includes Childcare, Summer Camp and Teen Programs, Behavioral Health, Healthy Families and Parent Aide. Working with employees, management, community partners, programs and services within the Catholic Charities of Boston network to establish and execute a strategic plan for this core service area. This role serves on the agency’s leadership team and is responsible for helping to set agency-wide policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Working with the Senior Vice President for Programs to develop and implement a strategic plan for Family & Youth Services.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership, listening, problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills, along with intellectual curiosity to seek continuous improvement and support a positive work environment.
  • Convene staff on a regular basis in different sites to facilitate staff meetings for the distribution of information and professional expertise to ensure that services are being provided and integrated in a cohesive manner.
  • Create a culture of excellence by recruiting, mentoring and leading a team of highly skilled, dedicated employees.
  • Oversee programs and services including program development, service delivery, and evaluation while insuring and maintaining Agency standards.
  • Oversee all hiring, training and development, supervision, evaluation and termination of staff and monitor volunteer involvement through team leaders within each of the above categories.
  • In collaboration with the Director for Data and Evaluation, establish appropriate metrics and processes for monitoring, measuring and reporting results on an ongoing basis.
  • Set clear performance goals and expectations during biweekly supervisions with direct reports and provide regular feedback and annual evaluations.
  • Provide quality assurance and monitor contracts and grant utilization, reporting results to leadership.
  • Meet biweekly with the Senior Vice President for Programs to provide updates on progress with respect to achieving strategic plan goals for the year and other matters.
  • Develop key metrics and the annual budget for Family & Youth Services in partnership with senior leadership and key staff.
  • Establish processes for monthly monitoring and analysis of budget performance, including quarterly forecasts.
  • Review monthly financial statements with the Family & Youth Services business manager and program managers to ensure adherence to budgets.
  • Meet with the Chief Financial Officer and/or Controller as needed to review fiscal results.
  • Oversee the submission of client service and demographic information as required to the data team and review statistical and demographic information. Approve payroll changes, including hires, transfers, salary increases, and terminations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to coordinate services across Catholic Charities of Boston.
  • Represent Catholic Charities in the community on issues related to Family & Youth Services.
  • Engage regularly with children and families, providing support and fostering positive relationships in a safe environment.
  • Build relationships with businesses, nonprofits, volunteers, community members, and elected officials in partnership with the Vice President of Advancement and Senior Vice President of Government and Community Relations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with advisory boards, community groups, other committees as appropriate, interacting with donors and the Agency Board of Trustees.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Operations team, on-site maintenance and equipment needs.
  • Work is performed in an office and classroom setting with regular visits to program sites and in the community with the ability to work varied hours which may include evening, nights or weekends as necessary to attend events where Catholic Charities presence is needed.
  • Perform light physical work, including moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Local travel to meet with program managers and staff and attend community meetings and events.
  • Attendance of internal and external meetings and training.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree in Social Services, Education, Early Childhood, or a related field
  • 7-10 years of post-graduate experience in human services or education, with increasing responsibility.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory or administrative experience with strong leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of family services, clinical services, child welfare, community services, teacher education, regulations, and program development.
  • Strong commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities of Boston
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with colleagues, donors, volunteers, and partners.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Skilled in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and written communication.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Excel, and use of virtual technologies such as Zoom.
  • Ability to set objectives and prioritize to achieve goals.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours for events and other duties as needed.
  • Independent and team-oriented work style.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle to perform the functions of the position.
