PURPOSE OF POSITION:
A Safety & Security Associate at Catholic Charities:
- Politely welcomes, greets and assists all residents and visitors, providing routine information or directing them to appropriate staff/program.
- Conducts internal and external rounds throughout the facility to monitor and ensure safety.
- Monitors surveillance cameras and public areas to ensure no improper conduct or unauthorized persons are inside facility and/or on agency property.
- Adheres to Agency confidentiality and HIPAA expectations.
- Responds and assists as appropriate to any emergency situations in the building or on the grounds.
- Follows procedures and guidelines set forth in operating guidelines manual(s) to help maintain structure and order in the living environment
- Accurately and promptly completes all required documentation/data, including entering relevant participant information in daily logs before ending shift assignment.
- Maintains current knowledge of on-going events and changes by reading old logs
- Enforces property rules uniformly and consistently.
- Responds appropriately to needs and crisis situations, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems between residents and summoning emergency personnel
- Communicates with other staff to resolve problems with individual participants.
- Completes necessary records and reports, including on the computer or manually, as directed.
- Provides appropriate information and referrals.
- Keeps supervisor informed on property developments.
- Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics.
- Reflects Catholic Charities’ commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
- Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident and agency information.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Completes security guard training and licensing.
- Completes all mandatory trainings and stated by the agency or supervisor.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Good steward of Agency human, financial, and capital resources
- Participates effectively as a team member through communication, cooperation, information sharing and problem solving.
- Participates in staff trainings and programs as required.
- Any other tasks or duties as assigned.
- Helping participants safely exit building in an emergency.
Requirements
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
REASONING ABILITY
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds. Must be able to carry out physical demands emergency procedure protocol.

Salary: $20.00/hour
