Catholic Charities Community Services is currently seeking a qualified individual to work in our Head Start Program performing a variety of tasks to keep facilities, equipment and grounds maintained and in good operating condition.
Hourly Rate $16.11-$19.33 / hourly DOE
JOB SUMMARY: Performs regular and preventative maintenance duties within the Head Start Program, ensuring licensing and facilities are maintained within the parameters of all state and federal regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Oversee the general maintenance of all facilities, equipment, and grounds through work orders submitted, leadership request, or observation, including, but not limited to minor and routine painting, carpentry, basic electrical, plumbing, and drywall repair.
- Performs landscape maintenance as required, scheduled, or needed. This includes monitoring lawn watering systems, regular weeding, trash disposal, bush and tree trimming.
- Responsible for obtaining materials needed for work performed. Orders and/or purchases maintenance supplies for facilities covered. Ensures the agency procurement process is followed regarding documentation, purchase orders, etc.
- Inspect facilities on a regular basis. conducts monthly safety inspections of all facilities and completes appropriate documentation. Immediately reports issues or concerns in order to maintain facilities to meet licensing standards.
- Utilizes knowledge of field to offer alternative options and brainstorm regarding maintenance and facilities issues with supervisor.
- As needed, will participate in moving furniture, setting up or breaking down conference rooms for meetings, and re-arranging offices.
- Required to fulfill maintenance functions regarding;
- Plumbing abilities-re-plumb drains and redistribute pipes during rehabs.
- Carpentry, framing and general remodeling of a facility.
- Build concrete sidewalks, curbing and bike paths-this includes building the footers.
- Able to read and have a basic understanding of blueprints as needed for job function.
- Welding as needed.
- Drywall and painting.
- Application of general construction concepts and knowledge.
- Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services for our staff and clients.
- Other duties as assigned
OTHER RELATED DUTIES:
- Works alternative hours as required, including nights and weekends.
- Prepares, and attends all meetings, trainings, and conferences as assigned.
- Maintains self and a functional work environment.
- Performs other tasks as may be required for the efficient comprehensive, integrated program.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Education /Background: Minimum of GED or High School diploma plus minimum 3 years of experience in field with progressively independent work processes. Bilingual preferred.
- Job Knowledge: Significant maintenance experience plus demonstrated ability to work independently. Flexibility required for position. Basic computer skills, Outlook, Work order systems/data entry, Email in Microsoft programs.
- Working Conditions/Physical Demands: Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs, steps and playgrounds. Must be able to climb ladder and work in restricted workspaces. Must be able to lift heavy objects weighing 50 lbs or more. Position is exposed to inclement weather (extreme heat included). Must be able to drive to different worksites.
- Other requirements:
- Meets Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) requirements for licensure
- Possesses or acquires, and maintains, Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance
- Provides approved documentation of a negative result for a tuberculin (TB) skin test or chest x-ray
- Meets federal Head Start employment requirements including physical examination at hire
- Possesses and maintains valid Arizona driver license (An individual must be 21 years of age or older to drive on behalf of Catholic Charities Community Services Westside Head Start)
- Reliable personal transportation and ability to show proof of current/valid vehicle registration and insurance with state minimum liability coverage
