Job Summary:  Serves as a resident advocate and links housing residents to supportive services or medical services provided by public or private agencies. Provides support and coordination of volunteers and community organization partners to enhance the growth of the Community Engagement and Philanthropy visions to advance the mission of Catholic Charities Community Services within CCCS affordable housing communities. Works among residents, and across volunteers, staff, donors and partner organizations to help our community's most vulnerable with solutions that permanently improve lives. Schedule will require some flexibility, evenings and Saturdays. 

 

Job Duties:  

  1. Welcomes new residents within two weeks of move-in, informing them of the role of the Resident Services Coordinator.
  2. Co-Develop a questionnaire and surveys residents to learn about their unmet needs, program interests, and potential ways to engage with Catholic Charities and their housing community.
  3. Co-develops Resident Councils and provides oversight while encouraging and inviting all residents organize activities like support groups, skill building workshops and social events that positively impact the housing community.
  4. Develop, maintains and distributes a directory of local services.
  5. Works with supervisor and community partners to develop a housing and community handbook.
  6. Provides some basic grants research and proposal ideas and deadlines. Contributes to preparation and submission with the guidance of the Philanthropy team.
  7. Provides referrals and introductions for services.
  8. Educates residents and assists them in accessing entitlement programs and other federal, state and community resources.
  9. Advocates for services and programs on behalf of individual residents and the residential community as a whole.
  10. Support volunteer opportunities in collaboration with agency programs, corporate, faith based and community outreach efforts. Assist with recruitment, training, orientation, support and recognition of volunteers. Assist with training and support for volunteers that engage in residential service delivery. Coordinates weekly onsite programs and services for the resident community related to increasing the residents' self-sufficiency such as wellness, financial education, workforce development or benefits. These activities must meet contractual agreements and compliance.
  11. Capture and report program and service offerings and participant engagement. Utilize findings to improve work. 
  12. Assist in planning, promoting and implementing educational, skills development, youth activities and event planning in affordable housing communities that will increase resident and community engagement.
  13. Coordinate collaborative efforts with community groups (i.e., girl or boy scouts, churches, civic groups, schools, self-help groups), community agencies, institutions of higher education, and volunteers to provide onsite social and support activities and services; i.e., congregate meals, after school programs, day care or computer education.
  14. Support and strengthen through regular follow up and communications the collaboration of new and existing faith based and community partnerships with the Community Engagement Led, and Director of Community Engagement and Volunteer Services in the Office of Philanthropy. Provides promotional and creative support to enhance resident services and community outreach efforts and recognition.
  15. Serves as agency representative at residential housing communities’ functions, including giving presentations as opportunities arise and are confirmed with supervisor.
  16. Produces, posts, disseminates and submits for reporting a monthly newsletter and calendar of events.
  17. Maintains documentation of residential housing services and prepares reports as needed or requested documenting progress of programs, activities, and partnerships.
  18. Participate in and support Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) initiatives to include attending appropriate program leadership and training meetings to ensure organization-wide involvement in PQI and the development of program performance measurements.  
  19. Promote ongoing commitment to excellence and continual quality improvement to ensure the highest quality of services to our staff and clients. 
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements:

  1. Education /Background:  High School Diploma plus 3 years’ equivalent work experience in group activity creation and coordination, community engagement experience, preferably in a faith based setting. Experience working with culturally diverse populations including children, families, seniors, the veterans and disabled community.  Ability to speak Spanish is preferred. Experience in low income communities or affordable housing communities a plus.  Experience in customer service industry a plus.   Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
  2. Job KnowledgeMust have knowledge and understanding of human behavior, social work theories and techniques as well as community resources including federal and applicable state entitlement programs. Knowledge of economic, educational and social problems related to low-income and special populations. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the agency and community. .  Strong leadership skills with an ability to supervise volunteers and interns. Proven public speaking and relationship building skills and competency.  Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications (Word & Outlook). 
  3. Working Conditions/Physical Demands:  Must be able to stoop, bend, squat, sit on floor and ambulate over uneven floor surfaces including stairs and steps. Must be able to visually and auditory interact with clients and staff. Requires considerable work outside of the office and some travel within the state. Requires some evening and weekend work on occasion. May lift up to 25 pounds.  
  4. Other requirements:
    1. Valid AZ driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to show proof of registration/insurance.
    2. Level One Fingerprint clearance or ability to obtain fingerprint clearance; must maintain clearance. 
    3. You must be 21 years of age or older to drive on behalf of Catholic Charities.


Hourly rate starting at $18.11 and may increase depending on experience.  

This position works directly on site to deliver supportive services to residents.  Employee has 6 hours per pay period allocated as WFH to complete trainings, documentation, reports, and other administrative duties.
