Summary :
Catholic Homes, a leading affordable housing developer under the Archdiocese of New York, is seeking an Affordable Housing Analyst to assist in the development of affordable and supportive housing projects, including new construction and preservation initiatives. This position supports the full lifecycle of housing development, including feasibility analysis, funding applications, and securing community and regulatory approvals. The role ensures a seamless transition from development to operations while maintaining Catholic Homes’ commitment to providing high- quality, mission-driven housing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Project Feasibility and Analysis :
- Assist in evaluating potential sites for new construction or rehabilitation projects, including financial, demographic, and regulatory considerations.
- Prepare feasibility analyses to determine project viability, addressing community needs, target populations, financial sustainability, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Develop and manage financial models, including pro formas, to analyze development costs, operating revenue, and funding strategies.
Community Engagement and Approvals :
Coordinate resident relocation plans for rehabilitation projects.Gather resident input to ensure community buy-in and support for rehabilitation or new development projects.Submit land use and permit applications; attend hearings, neighborhood meetings, and other public forums.Foster a collaborative approach to securing neighborhood acceptance and community support.Regulatory Compliance and Funding Applications :
Prepare and manage applications for funding, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), government grants, and private financing sources.Track project approval processes, ensuring all deadlines and regulatory requirements are met.Development Coordination :
Work with internal departments, including asset management, finance, and compliance teams, to align development goals with operational needs.Collaborate with architects, contractors, property management and external consultants to address project requirements and timelines.Project Management Support :
Assist senior developers in managing project schedules and budgets.Provide analytical support, including creating and maintaining financial models, tracking expenses, and preparing performance reports.Actively engage in problem-solving with internal and external stakeholders to address project challenges.Perform due diligence for property acquisitions, including market analysis, title review, and demographic research.Demonstrate understanding of construction project requisition, lease up and conversion processes and assist Senior Development Team with meeting required benchmarks and deadlines.Maintain organized electronic project files and records.Event Planning and External Communications :
Organize and Coordinate Events : Plan and manage events such as ribbon-cutting ceremonies, groundbreakings, and community meetings to promote new developments and engage stakeholders.Develop External Communications : Create and distribute materials, including press releases, newsletters, and social media content, to inform the public and stakeholders about project milestones and organizational achievements.Position Type and Expected Hours of Work :
This is a full-time position. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 9 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM, with flexibility required to meet project deadlines. Occasional evening and weekend work may be necessary.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands :
Frequent travel to project sites across Manhattan, Staten Island, the Bronx, and potentially upstate New York.Combination of office-based work and fieldwork, including site visits and public meetings.Qualifications : Education :
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required; preference for fields such as real estate, business, urban planning, finance, or related disciplines.A Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., real estate, business administration, urban planning) may substitute for work experience.Experience :
At least 2 years of relevant professional experience, with demonstrated exposure to financial and real estate concepts through roles in project management, policy development, design, or financial analysis.Skills, Licenses, and / or Competencies :
Strong understanding of affordable housing development, finance, and compliance processes.Excellent financial analysis skills, including experience with creating and interpreting spreadsheets and financial models.Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including community members, government officials, and internal teams.Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with project management tools.Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a commitment to the mission of Catholic Homes.
