Summary : Catholic Charities Community Services is seeking a Senior Accountant. This professional position participates on and has supervisory responsibilities for a fiscal team primarily supporting the Community Outreach Services (COS) Division, which provides comprehensive services to individuals and families through an array of development, case management, and assistance programs related to food assistance services, and housing and eviction prevention services.
This team works with key program and administrative staff as well as government and philanthropic funders preparing results, budgets, forecasts, variance reports, claims, corporate, contract and program audits, as well as assist in governance reporting and ad hoc assignments as required.
The Senior Accountant is an important role in the Fiscal Program Support office, with significant responsibilities associated to the accounting for multiple programs, contracts and grants. The position requires a degree in accounting and 3 years of supervisory and relevant experience. NYS / NYC contracts, advanced degrees, certifications and / or Lawson financial experience are considered a plus. There is excellent opportunity for growth within the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Contract accounting functions associated with contracts and grants :
- Prepare timely and accurate regulatory filings (i.e. claims, budget modifications close-outs, and advances);Complete revenue, receivable and expense reconciliations;
- Ensure integrity of financial results related to government contracts and grants, revenues, receivables, earned unbilled, and advances, and preparation of related standard journal entries and reconciliations; and
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding receivable balances with the funding sources to maximize cash flow, which is critical to the organization.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work :
This is a full-time position that requires in office attendance at frequencies designated for the Department. Days and hours of work are generally 9 : 00 AM to 5 PM Monday - Friday. Additional evening and weekend hours are required to meet department and Agency deadlines.
