Key Performance Objectives Include:
- Assists with the planning, implementation of fitness and health related, and educational, programs to ensure efficient delivery of quality services.
- Leads and instructs health and fitness exercise classes for participants.
- Actively engages with program participants daily.
- Attends all required Pennsylvania Department of Aging training programs for new/maintenance of certification.
- Schedules, assesses and implements participants’ individual workout plans according to their specific health needs and fitness goals.
- Monitors activities to verify appropriate use of the equipment in the fitness room and that exercise classes meet the established standards.
- Assists with the training of fitness room volunteers and staff on the correct use of equipment as needed. Conducts refresher classes for all volunteers to ensure proper procedures are being followed.
- Complete intakes in Social Assistance Management System (SAMS) on program participants per Pennsylvania Department of Aging regulations/guidelines
- Maintains confidentially in communication with consumers, staff and others to preserve client and staff rights.
Minimum Qualifications:
- An associate degree or equivalent is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience with delivering fitness activities is preferred.
- The ability to obtain and maintain all Pennsylvania Department of Aging certifications for evidence based senior center programming including Chronic Disease Self-Management, 10 Keys to Healthy Aging, Healthy Steps for Older Adults and Healthy Steps in Motion and any new programming is required.
- The demonstrated ability to interact constructively with the elderly population and community agencies is required.
- The ability to lift and carry a minimum of 25lbs is required.
- The ability to travel between two senior center locations is required.
- Act 33/34 clearances are required.
