Sign on Bonus: $3,000 (external candidates only)

Salary Range: $43,888.00  (may be determined by both education and experience)

Our licensed therapists are in over 100 schools throughout Maryland and ready to help young people with emotional and behavioral issues that can impact them in school and at home. We also help parents and caregivers get the support, information and guidance that leads to better communication and less stress at home. Locations include Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Frederick, and Harford Counties and Baltimore City.

Catholic Charities of Baltimore, VMCR is currently seeking a PRP-Therapeutic Support Specialist who will implement the rehabilitation activities outlined in the individual's IRP to address skill building and enhancing peer and family relationships, emotional management, social, self-care, independent living skills, and activities that support the individual's or youth's cultural interests.  These include but are not limited to; enhance community functioning in identified clients (adults, youth) by focusing on activities of independent living related to resilience, recovery, and rehabilitation. Efforts and interventions are integrated with those of the primary therapist and other relevant health care providers. The current work schedule is Monday-Friday 11am-7pm a total of 37.5 hours per week (hours may vary based on need).

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Writes objectives in clear, measurable terms, emphasizing behaviors that are required to move the client to a lower level of care.
  • Ensures client participation in treatment planning and, when working with children, partners with caregivers in the development of the treatment plan and throughout treatment, identifying and addressing any barriers to participation, as needed.
  • Provides scheduling that works to establish and maintain a therapeutic working relationship with the client(s) that is respectful of budget, culture, values, abilities, and identity.
  • Maintains client(s) documentation according to required policies and procedures including assessments, contact notes, monthly progress notes, biannual treatment plan updates, discharge summaries, continuing authorization documentation, and any other documentation required within the assigned program
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School/GED and 5 years of work experience with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and their families.

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field and one year of work experience with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents and their families

REQUIRMENTS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent knowledge of case management and crisis intervention services.
  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate activities as appropriate.
  • Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions.
  • Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e. Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required. Other Microsoft Office application knowledge, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Skype, and OneDrive desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • May require the incumbent to obtain, maintain and provide the contact number of a mobile phone. The incumbent would be required to be available and answer work related telephone calls during specified hours.
  • Hearing and vision abilities within normal range (corrected) to drive safely and to observe and communicate with others.
  • Driving (Agency and/or personal vehicle) is required for this position. Driver must be at least 21 years of age, with a minimum of 2 years of driving experience, and a valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence. There can be no state issued restrictions on the licenses that would impede driver’s ability to operate the vehicle as required by the Agency, and there must not be more than three (3) points on their driving record.
  • Position requires intermittent standing, sitting, walking and physically capable of lifting and moving files/supplies/equipment up to 25 lbs.
