Villa Maria Behavioral Health Clinics provide mental and behavioral health services to children, adults, and families across Maryland. These services include individual counseling, family counseling, psychiatric evaluation, social and coping skill development, addiction counseling and treatment, and medication management.
Catholic Charities, Villa Maria Behavioral Health is currently seeking a Respite Specialist who will provides respite to families of emotionally disabled children or adolescents by engaging the child or adolescent in structured activities in the home or community. The primary purpose of respite is to provide breaks for caretakers, allowing them to attend to other needs and supporting caretakers in their efforts to maintain the child or adolescent in the home. The Respite Specialist is a PRN position (As needed). Schedule is flexible during evening times and weekends.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides transportation between home and offsite locations.
- May attend initial assessments and make recommendations for initial Respite Plan. Establishes schedules for service with caretakers based on Respite Plan.
- Reviews authorization for Respite Services (Enhanced Client Support) by Maryland Health Partners to ensure payment is approved for all services.
- Communicates with caretakers to conduct assessments, establish, or modify schedules, facilitate transitions, and provide information and feedback on children’s activities. Includes caretakers in the planning process as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma and 18 months experience with special needs children, adolescents, or families.
- Minimum of six months fulltime of direct practice (volunteer or paid) in a peer recovery support environment.
- Must have reliable transportation to visit multiple sites. If driving on Agency business, must be at least 21 years of age and have valid driver’s license issued by the state of residence, with no more than 3 points.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent relational and customer service skills.
- Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision.
- Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required. Other Microsoft Office application knowledge, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Skype, and OneDrive desired.
