Volunteer Coordinator – Adult Education

Reports to: Manager of Adult Education

Position Description

This full-time, benefited position handles a wide range of administrative and volunteer management-related tasks in a team environment to support the volunteer staffing needs in our Adult Education program. Additionally, this person will develop and implement strategies to engage community members and Catholic parishioners and build and maintain partnerships to promote the Adult Education program. Daytime hours with some evening and weekend work required for events, excluding holidays.

Ministerial

• As a ministerial representative of CCEOK, it is expected that both professional and social behavior be aligned with the ethical and moral standards of the Catholic Church
• Pray daily for the needs of the poor; opportunities include personal prayer, daily Mass, and/or adoration
• Willingness to learn how to articulate Catholic teaching with a commitment to its application in the job function
• Execute duties in a Christ-like manner with love and compassion following the values and principles of the program, Catholic Charities and Catholic Social Teaching

Volunteer Engagement

• Assists the Adult Education team as needed in all volunteer-related functions
• Works with Adult Education staff to identify potential leadership volunteers and develop their experience
• Regularly communicates with volunteers and ensures a high level of appreciation and integration into the overall team
• Assists program manager in coordinating and facilitating a variety of volunteer orientations, trainings, and appreciation initiatives and events
• Engages and communicates with the Volunteer Engagement office to coordinate efforts.

Administrative

• Address and prioritize phone calls, emails, messages and mail from external and internal persons related to volunteering in the Adult Education program
• Serve as point of contact for education volunteers and maintain knowledge of program operations, including staff, schedules, and general policies and procedures.
• Maintain volunteer calendar and Volgistics database for Adult Education program, ensuring volunteer hours are current
• Facilitate onboarding processes for volunteers as well as their placement in the Adult Education program

Community Engagement and Outreach

• Recruit, engage, and retain volunteers for both the main campus and Outreach education sites to ensure a standard staff number and supplemental coverage
• Network within the community to bring new talent and mission-minded individuals to serve in the program
• In partnership with the program manager, maintain and build relationships with local organizations and Catholic parishes to establish new sites for program offerings
• Become the point of contact for volunteers at the new program sites, regularly communicating and providing support for volunteers

Key Skills

• Experience in volunteer management, human resources, professional recruitment or training a plus
• Interpersonal skills with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service and presentation skills
• Must be comfortable with public speaking and giving constructive feedback to volunteers
• Accurate and detail-oriented with the ability to maintain confidential information and records
• Ability to lift 20 lbs., bend, stoop, sit and stand for long periods of time
• Advanced computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook – Experience with Volgistics software a plus
