St. Margaret’s Center is a community center of Catholic Charities of Los Angeles in the Inglewood area of Los Angeles. The Center provides a comprehensive range of services for low-income and unhoused populations, including food programs, services for individuals experiencing homelessness, education programs, health and wellness services and social support programs. An average of 10,000 participants receive approximately 50,000 services each year.
CRC III’s role informs households with low income about the availability, eligibility requirements, application procedures, and benefits of CalFresh. Processes CalFresh Applications. Educates eligible community members about CalFresh and provides assistance and troubleshooting with CalFresh applications, semi-annual reports and/or recertification paperwork.
Responsibilities:
- Process an average of 40 CalFresh applications per month.
- Educate CalFresh applicants, St. Margaret’s Center clientele, and surrounding community at large about CalFresh benefits, eligibility requirements and application procedures.
- Help CalFresh recipients with troubleshooting for their CalFresh cases and assist with their semi-annual reports (SAR-7’s) and recertification paperwork (RRR’s), as needed.
- Provide necessary follow up with Department of Public Social services to process outstanding CalFresh applications.
- Work alongside Community Services Manager to produce engaging and informative digital and print marketing materials to be displayed on-site and through social media channels with the objective of increasing enrollment of new applicants and retaining current enrollees.
- Connect CalFresh applicants with CalFresh Healthy Living programs and all other services at St. Margaret’s Center that may benefit them.
- Help track and report applicant outcomes to gauge CalFresh program effectiveness.
- Occasionally participate in outreach programs or community events; represents program/region at community meetings.
- Promotes continuous quality improvement and service delivery that is aligned with the Agency’s mission.
- Displays sensitivity to the client population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Should have experience with CalFresh program.
- Two to three years of related experience.
- Must exemplify empathy and compassion when working with low- income populations.
