This innovative program aims to enhance the social engagement, cultural exchange, and well-being of older adults (60 ) through nutrition-focused intergenerational activities, bringing together seniors, students, and community volunteers. The Program Assistant will play a key role in coordinating program activities, managing volunteers, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations at two senior centers: John XXIII Multi-Service Center and Eastside Neighborhood Center. This is a full-time position and reports directly to the Program Director.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Program Coordination:
- Assist with planning and implementing inter-generational activities, such as cooking demonstrations, cultural celebrations, and gardening projects.
- Coordinate logistics for scheduled events, including setup, materials, and participant communication.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to maintain an organized program calendar.
- Volunteer Coordination:
- Support the Agency Volunteer Coordinator and Program Director in recruiting, training and coordinating student and other volunteers to support program activities.
- Ensure volunteers understand their roles and have the necessary resources to succeed.
- Participant Engagement:
- Conduct participant intake and orientation, including gathering demographics and ensuring seniors are connected to appropriate services.
- Develop rapport with seniors, providing culturally sensitive support to enhance their engagement.
- Facilitate communication and foster connections between seniors and volunteers.
- Outreach and Marketing:
- Assist with creating and distributing culturally appropriate outreach materials (e.g., flyers, event announcements) in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Chinese.
- Represent the program at community resource fairs and outreach events.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
- Administer participant surveys to evaluate program effectiveness and satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records in CCSCC's database and provide data for required reporting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work, gerontology, or a related field preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in program coordination, volunteer management, or community services (experience with senior populations a plus).
- Direct experience working with seniors or in senior-focused programs, particularly in community or nonprofit settings.
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations, particularly Latino and Asian communities.
- Experience in coordinating and facilitating events, including scheduling, logistics, and participant communication.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across generations and cultures.
- Ability to plan and implement workshops and public presentations planning.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with client databases.
- Multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese) strongly preferred.
- Ability to work at a desk or standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to use a computer workstation.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Criminal background check via Livescan fingerprint
- Must have TB test performed and submit results and COVID vaccination record.
- Automobile, valid driver’s license and auto insurance per agency policy; or have access to reliable transportation
- Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with evening and weekend workshops, meetings and off hours support as needed.
