TITLE: Family Peer Coach
DEPARTMENT: BHS - St. Joseph Center of Hope
POSITION SUMMARY
The family peer coach utilizes his or her lived experience as a primary caregiver or family member of a person with a substance use disorder (SUD). The person in this role provides assistance to people seeking, or already in, recovery from substance use disorders. The family peer recovery coach supports a person’s journey toward recovery and wellness by creating and sustaining networks of formal and informal services that recognizes the multiple pathways to recovery as each individual determines their own way. The family peer recovery coach helps to remove barriers and obstacles and links people to resources in the recovery community. Services provided by family peer recovery coaches support clients to become and stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. Activities are targeted to people at all places along their path of recovery.
The successful candidate will:
- Be passionate about recovery and excited to share information with others.
- Advocate for those in recovery
- Have good people skills.
- Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of two years of recovery time
- Knowledge of addiction recovery
- Have good verbal and written skills.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Office)
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Meet with individuals to assist in their recovery process by offering support, resources and guidance.
- Complete recovery plans and progress notes
- Provides follow-up calls, and check-in calls for individuals in recovery as a form of additional support.
- Assist with transportation as needed.
Must have CCAR Recovery Coach certificate or receive training within 90 days of hire date. Prefer candidates with a Michigan Certified Peer Recovery Coach certification.

Job Type: Part Time, 16 or 24 hours per week (2 positions), Non- Exempt Position
Pay: $15/hour
