Catholic Charities is the social service arm of the Catholic Diocese of Winona-Rochester serving the twenty southernmost counties of Minnesota. For over 75 years, Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota has served the poor and marginalized regardless of age, gender, ethnic background, or faith tradition.
Catholic Charities of Southern Minnesota is seeking a full-time Child and Family Services Social Worker in our Rochester, MN office. This program supports confident pregnancies and stable beginnings for all children. We work with new and expectant parents to provide tangible necessities like financial assistance and baby items, as well as psycho-education on parenting topics to ensure safe and stable families. This position will have the opportunity to provide case management to new and expectant parents as well as prospective adoptive parents.
Must be detail oriented, able to work independently, create strong networks in the community, and work some flexible, on-call hours. The position is based out of Rochester, MN and supports families in Dodge, Steele, Mower and Freeborn counties.
Responsibilities
- Case management for families
- Provide one-on-one parenting education
- Provide baby necessities through diaper banks, infant car seats, portable cribs and financial assistance
- Coordinate diaper pop-up distribution events
- Complete assessments and provide referrals
- Provide pregnancy counseling, decision making support, and adoption services
- Complete adoptive home studies and education
- Support all members of the adoption triad through placement
- Work some on-call hours to ensure adoption inquiries are addressed when babies are born after hours.
Requirements
- Social Work License in the State of Minnesota
- Driver's License
- Ability to earn certification in child passenger safety
- Ability to relate and communicate with diverse population and groups
- Knowledgeable in child welfare and development
- Working knowledge of social theories and practices
- Detail oriented and able to work independently
