Paralegal

Catholic Charities of Southern New Mexico, a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization, provides professional immigration legal services to moderate and low-income individuals and families within the ten (10) southern counties of New Mexico through its Legal Services Program.

This full-time position will be responsible for providing both administrative and substantive support to the agency’s legal staff and be based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The paralegal’s duties will directly support the work of our U.S. Department of Justice accredited representatives, assist with outreach to prospective clients, and will ensure effective and efficient immigration legal services to existing clients.

Job Qualifications:

• Excellent bi-lingual communication skills - .

• Demonstrated sensitivity when working with people of diverse cultures, backgrounds, and socio-economic status.

• Passion for helping the poor and less fortunate, immigrants, migrants, and refugees.

• Self-motivated, detail and goal oriented, well-organized, independent worker who is able to prioritize assignments and work load with minimum supervision.

• Proficiency in filing, typing, database management, and telephone reception. Familiarity with Microsoft software, databases, and the internet required.

• High school diploma or GED certificate required, Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred.

• Prior experience in law office and/or aptitude in law preferred.
