Join our team as a Lead Clinician! As a Lead Clinician you are responsible for providing leadership and administrative support to the Catholic Charities Veterans Service Program as well as direct clinical services to veterans and their family members. You will provide services related to providing trauma informed mental and behavioral health services and helping clients to increase their self-sufficiency. The services you provide are on-site at Catholic Charities office locations , in the community and virtually utilizing a telehealth platform.
Direct service responsibilities will include providing clinical assessments, counseling services, presentations and workshops. Additional responsibilities may include participation in internal agency collaborations as well as community outreach functions. The position may also be assigned to supervise licensed masters level clinicians, bachelor level staff and graduate level interns/students. The overall goal of these services is to help veterans and their families heal and rebuild their civilian lives by providing support and treatment to overcome challenges including trauma, adjustment difficulties and homelessness. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to successfully engage eligible veterans and family members in mental and behavioral health services.
You will report directly to and receive clinical supervision from the Counseling Department’s Clinical Supervisor. The successful candidate will thrive working in a fast paced environment, have the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, have an inclination to work across program departments to reach collaborative solutions, motivate staff, and think creatively to solve challenges. As an employee of Catholic Charities it is expected that the Lead Clinician become familiar with the Catholic Social Teachings and promote the integration of these values into the program’s services.
Qualifications
The Expertise We’re Looking For
- You have a Master’s degree in mental health field, (Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy). Licensed by the State of Texas (LCSW, LPC, LMFT)
- You have three years of experience providing direct clinical services, including counseling and experience with developing and leading counseling groups.

- It is preferred you have experience managing service related information for tracking and reporting purposes, e.g. outcomes.
- You are competent in providing services to individuals, families, children, and groups.
- You have experience providing treatment that is trauma informed and sensitive to diverse populations.
- It is preferred that you have experience providing counseling services using telehealth platforms (video and telephone).
- It is preferred that you have experience providing clinical services to the veteran population and their families.
- It is preferred that you have the ability to speak in public speaking ability, including the ability to provide presentations and workshops to large audiences.
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- You have the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines concurrently.

What you Deliver
- You provide leadership and administrative support to program staff ensuring the program’s goals and objectives are met as indicated by successfully meeting output and outcome targets for the program. This will include holding regular one-on-one supervisory meetings and group meetings with program staff to outline goals, plan service delivery, gather feedback, coach, and ultimately facilitate effective performance. Also, the practice of Continuous Quality Improvement will be implemented to ensure services are responsive and data informed. Additional duties will include managing staff schedules, conducting performance evaluations, enforcing agency policies and procedures, ensuring proper reporting of incident reports, and meeting all agency requirements for supervisor level staff.
- You utilize clinical skills, including screening, assessment, diagnosis and service planning to provide appropriate treatment to individuals, couples, families and groups. Services are provided on-site at Catholic Charities office locations, in the community and virtually. Also, provides workshops and presentations within the agency and in the community. Meets or exceeds productivity and outcomes targets as outlined in the Performance Indicator Report. Manages critical case issues to ensure the safety and well-being of clients. Supervises the work of assigned staff and graduate students/interns to ensure compliance with ethical practices and promote professional growth. Routinely participates in ongoing training, including professional development in the area of trauma informed care and veteran treatment. Participates in and executes abuse risk management responsibilities to ensure the safety of clients, including timely completion of incident reports, safety plans, and implementation of safety strategies.
- You complete paperwork within required time frames including, assessments, service plans, efforts, quarterlies, and closing summaries. Also, maintains records in accordance with regulatory/agency standards. Enters data in a clear, accurate, and timely manner. Also, promptly submits documentation needed for the tracking of output/outcome measures. May be asked to assist in record review or qualitative review processes. Completion of all documentation necessary to satisfy grant requirements.
- You maintain professional licensing requirements. Participates in staff meetings, case staffing, consultations, and agency staff development trainings. Contributes to agency staff training opportunities as requested. Meets with supervisor(s) regularly for program and clinical supervision.
- You participate in interagency and community networking and program promotion opportunities. Contributes to the development of strong interagency partnerships by serving clients referred by fellow agency programs and regularly communicating with client case managers and other staff to provide effective treatment.
- You perform other duties as required such as participation in staff retreats, United Way tours, agency fairs and speaking engagements, assists with special agency or program projects/ events, etc.
- You perform other duties as assigned.
