JOB SUMMARY : The Part Time Medical Director acts as the senior staff person charged with the delivery of comprehensive primary care at Catholic Charities healthcare services. The position oversees the clinical operation of the Medical Clinics and supervises the services provided by clinical staff to ensure high-quality care, compliance with applicable federal, state, local laws and Agency regulations and protocols. The Medical Director represents Catholic Charities' medical services in the community.

Weekly, 12 Hours

Supervisory Responsibility : Provides functional and clinical supervision of volunteer clinicians and clinical supervision only of medical assistants and other staff / volunteers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide management leadership and direction to the medical program.

Direct and oversee all clinical services, including education, prevention and research.

  • Identify opportunities to expand the medical department through new programs.
  • Oversee the management of all patients' medical records. Periodically review patient's charts to ensure quality health care.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to locate additional funding to sustain programs. Foster strong collaboration with key stakeholders to ensure that medical program strategy is in accord with the Agency's overall strategy and goals. Attend meetings for DC Primary Care Associates (DCPCA), the Volunteer Medical Clinic, and Quality Improvement.
  • Prepare and submit required reports on medical program issues, concerns, program status, initiatives, and progress and specific reports as requested.
  • Provide primary, and secondary health care services for clients with acute and chronic illness according to evidence based guidelines and clinic protocols.
  • Supervise the provision of services by clinical staff who directly interact with patients.
  • Direct and oversee all clinical services, including education, prevention and research. Develop systems to ensure efficient delivery of comprehensive and integrated medical services.
  • Oversee quality assurance functions and lead the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Initiative with the Quality Improvement Manager.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE :

  • Doctor of Medicine or Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current medical license in MD and / or DC (At least one at hiring).
  • Board-eligible or Board-certified in Family or Internal Medicine.
  • Must meet requirements for credentialing and privileging.
  • Current basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Five years' experience in healthcare management supervising physicians.
  • Experience in Health-care administration preferred.
  • Two years professional experience in Charity Care preferred.
  • Experience working with multicultural low-income population preferred.
