The Bilingual Clinician, St. Michael’s Home for Children is responsible for providing individual and group counseling and psychoeducational services to the minors residing at St. Michael’s Home for Children, including family members and identified sponsors when appropriate. Also, the position is responsible for providing educational trainings and presentations to program staff as required by ORR and State Licensing standards or in promotion of program/agency initiatives. The Bilingual Clinician may mentor and provide training to graduate level interns hosted by the program in service of its clients

  • Master’s degree in mental health field, (Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage & Family Therapy)

                Licensed by the State of Texas as:

                LPC Associate, or

                LMFT Associate, or

                LMSW in good standing with the respective board

  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience providing direct clinical services in a mental health setting 
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) 
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

What you Deliver

 

  • Provides individual and group counseling and psychoeducational services to clients and families in compliance with professional licensing standards, agency standards, Accreditation standards, ORR requirements, and HIPPA. Additionally, participates in and executes abuse risk management responsibilities, as recommended by the aforementioned entities.
  • Direct client service delivery includes, but is not limited to, the following clinical duties: conducting assessments; documenting diagnostic impressions; developing and implementing treatment plans and interventions; assessing risk and safety needs; providing appropriate referrals as needed; reporting abuse and/or neglect, or suspicions of such safety concerns to the appropriate authorities. Also, responsible for developing the content for psycho-educational group services to clients and the facilitation of these groups, independently or in conjunction with interns.
  • Participates in on-call rotation for the facility, and routinely attends training opportunities as required by the program and professional license.
  • Completes required documentation of client progress within required timeframes, maintaining client records in accordance with regulatory/agency standards. Completing data entry tasks associated with tracking measurable outcomes and performance management.
  • Offers clinical impressions and recommendations during weekly staffing of cases with treatment team members. Contributes to the development of discharge plans for clients as they transition out of the St. Michael’s Home for Children. Also, attends and participates in St. Michael’s Home for Children Program staff meetings, Counseling Program staff meetings, and Stakeholders meetings hosted by ORR. Attends and participates in weekly SMHC Counseling Team meetings and individual supervision appointments.
  • Provides trainings and presentations on childhood development and other psycho-educational topics as required by ORR, State Licensing standards, Accreditation standards or in promotion of agency/program initiatives.
  • Participate in training and maintain professional licensure per position/funder requirements. Provide training and presentations as required by your supervisor, program, agency and/or funder.
  • Performs other duties as required such as participating in staff retreats, United Way tours, agency fairs and speaking engagements, assisting with special organizational projects/events, etc.
