Assistant House Manager (St. Joseph’s House)

St. Joseph’s House is a DHCD-funded individual emergency overnight shelter program for men and women facing a housing crisis. The main focus of the shelter program is to help individuals achieve successful placement into stable housing. Additionally, Catholic Charites connects individuals to resources that are available within their respective communities to sustain long-term stable housing.
The Assistant House Manager will provide leadership and supervision to Direct Support Professionals and will ensure that operational policies and procedures are enforced at all times. The Assistant House Manager is responsible for ensuring the functions of the program are met while providing services that are safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and client-centered.

- Maintain an effective working relationship with referral sources, community agencies, donors and volunteers as well as with colleagues, supervisors, employees and other agency programs
- Exhibit positive leadership and role modeling, including program development and agency mission
- Understand the program contract and oversee all programmatic functions
- Provide services and support to homeless individuals to move into permanent or stable housing
- Provide advocacy, including housing search, mental health, medical and substance abuse referrals, daily living skill training, and linkage to community supports
- Responsible to review/assist with developing each individualized service plan
- Develop and maintain a network of community resources to help clients exit the shelter with support that are necessary and consistent with a Housing First model
- Must exhibit strong assessment skills, excellent documentation skills, organization, and communication skills to adequately supervise the needs of the program
- Must adhere to funder’s contractual, program, and service requirements
- Collection of Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) data
- Meet with the Shelter Director for weekly supervision and updates
- Respond to inquiries, phone calls, correspondence, and e-mails in a timely manner
- Conduct routine staff meetings
- Complete all tasks assigned by the Shelter Director
Qualifications include:
· BA/BS in Human Services preferred, experience in human services, housing, and homelessness services
· Available to cover On-Call
· Ability to work and promote a flexible schedule based on programmatic coverage, weekends, holidays, and program emergencies
· Excellent organizational and communication skills
· Computer skills with the ability to perform daily tasks within the ASSIST computer program, Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel
