What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Manager position at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington?
This position is located in Princess Anne, Maryland. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington is seeking an Assistant Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and management of Bethany House, a 24/7 emergency shelter for families and individuals experiencing homelessness.
This position requires full-time availability Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm and may require alternate availability during evenings, overnights, and weekends, based on operational needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees operational functions of the shelter including intake, screening, and assessment processes, budgeting, record keeping, and compliance.
- Manages occupancy levels, and room assignments, according to shelter policies and guidelines.
- Develops procedures to manage the shelter in an efficient, effective, manner compliant with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Coordinates and oversees the provision of support services, including access to meals, hygiene facilities, healthcare, and other essential services; works with external services and resources such as housing assistance, employment, and social services programs to further client progress toward self-sufficiency.
- Ensures the facility is clean, safe, and well maintained at all times.
- Develops, documents, and implements individualized service plans to address client specific needs and goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Human Services, or related field and three years of program management experience including staff supervision; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with fiscal management practices including creating and managing a budget.
- Proven leadership ability, effective communication skills, and the ability to manage time effectively.
- Strong computer skills including familiarity with Word, Excel, and database management.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex rules and regulations.
- Ability to motivate employees to work as a team, implementing decisions and reaching objectives.
- Ability to safeguard access to confidential, or sensitive, information and data.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Willingness to consent to and ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with federal/state/local laws.
