Position Summary:
The Assistant Director of Immigration Legal Services supports the ILS team through administrative and programmatic supports that ensure smooth and effective service delivery, data management, and compliance. The Assistant Director supervises the immigration advocate staff and ILS volunteers. This role does not include legal supervision; oversight and review of immigration advocates and volunteers’ legal work will remain the responsibility of staff attorneys.
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversee the intake process, ensuring prospective clients are screened in a timely and effective manner.
- Participate in the program funding process, including grant writing and funder reports. Keep track of reporting deadlines for grants and other funders and ensure reports are completed in a timely and complete manner.
- Administrative supervision of immigration advocates and volunteers, manage schedules, timecards, and annual performance reviews in consultation with staff attorneys.
- Work with the director to develop and implement departmental policies and procedures that promote effective and efficient service delivery.
- Serve on the Continuous Quality Improvement committee, which promotes effective service delivery agency wide.
- Collect monthly departmental data, including outputs and outcomes for the agency operations report.
- Ensure client satisfaction surveys are administered and reported in a timely manner, at least twice a year.
- Lead departmental quarterly chart review process and report results to the manager of quality and performance.
- Assist with screening and interviewing of potential candidates for open positions within the department.
- Uphold the agency’s mission statement.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent work experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Good analytical skills to make decisions in the best interest of the clients and the agency.
- Experience working with diverse teams and clients.
- High level of proficiency in computer-based case management systems and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience and knowledge of immigration law; willingness to pursue Department of Justice (DOJ) Accreditation.
- Experience in a supervisor role.
