Reporting to the senior director of strategic growth, the director of development is responsible for the establishment and execution of a comprehensive fund development program for our 13-program social services agency. This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial prosperity of our organization, allowing us to provide best-in-class services to those who seek our help.

- Cultivate meaningful connections with donors, engaging them based on their interests and securing donations from various sources.
- Manage an efficient donor database system, ensuring accurate recording of gifts.
- Oversee direct mail solicitations, maximizing outreach effectiveness.
- Promptly and legally document and acknowledge all gifts.
- Identify and implement opportunities for donor recognition and appreciation.
- Supervise fundraising events and collaborate on direct mail appeals with the marketing and communications team.
- Establish decision-making criteria for evaluating new funding opportunities.
- Assist donors with estate planning in collaboration with the diocese and executive team.
- Develop portfolios of major donor prospects, providing ongoing support and strategic counsel.
- Participate in the complete gift cycle, from initiating contacts to making solicitations and maintaining ongoing support.
- Collaborate effectively with the executive director, senior operations director, and board members in donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Serve as the lead staff support to the development committee of the board of directors.
- Lead and manage development staff.
- Collaborate with the executive team to determine development staffing requirements.
- Oversee the hiring process and ensure comprehensive training for new and existing staff.
- Monitor and assist staff, responsibly allocating available resources.
- Demonstrate understanding and support for the mission of Catholic Charities, serving as a representative of the agency in the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the executive director.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of fund development, direct sales, or business development experience in a service industry or nonprofit.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and/or successful fundraising campaigns.
- Demonstrated management and leadership capabilities.
- Effective operation in a multidisciplinary professional environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficient in personal computer use, with familiarity with Windows and Microsoft products
- Proven interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills with board members, community, and agency staff.
