Position Description: The Delivery Driver is responsible for ensuring the timely pick-up and delivery of donations and/or purchases for the Nativity House Shelter. This position is also responsible for loading and unloading truck inventory, properly storing food items and assisting with other kitchen task as needed. This position is full-time, and the schedule is Friday-Tuesday 7 am- 3:00 pm.
I. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Continuous safe driving of a CCS fleet truck, in compliance with all relevant laws and the CCS driving policy.
2. Maintains the security of the truck and supplies until safely secured in storage space.
3. Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
4. Report driving defects, accidents, or violations to Nativity House Manager
5. Collect and verify delivery instructions
6. Responsible for truck pick-up of daily food donations and delivery of supplies.
7. Loads and unloads truck. Unloads food donations after each pick up and puts items away per Nativity House Cook’s instruction or kitchen design.
8. Assists with kitchen duties as assigned by the Nativity House Cook when driving duties are completed for the day and on Sundays. Duties may include supporting inventory control, labeling & storing food, cleaning of kitchen equipment, surfaces and floors.
9. Maintains professional conduct consistent with CCS and Program values at all times with agency and program guests/clients, volunteers, staff, and donors, as well as the general public.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
1. HS Diploma or GED
2. 1 year experience within a delivery driving system
3. Current Pierce County Food Handlers Card and TB Test
4. Ability to work with a diverse group of people with chronic mental health, chemical dependency and legal problems.
5. Ability to be flexible, meet deadlines, and work effectively under stress
6. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
7. Experience driving a one ton or larger van.
8. Excellant interpersonal skills to include excellent communication and writing skills
9. Be a positive and proactive team member.
10. Applicant must successfully pass required background checks.
11. Must have reliable transportation, a valid WA State driver’s license, and auto insurance.
12. Must have an acceptable driving record per CCS’ driving policy, (required to provide current driving abstract).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 2yrs experience working with the homeless population.
