What are the responsibilities and job description for the St. Vincent de Paul Assistant Shelter Director position at Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge?
The Assistant Shelter/Residential Director will assist the Shelter Director with supervision for all of the Shelter/Residential programs. This position is responsible for the programming and services, community relationships, staff leadership, building safety and maintenance, client services, and program development. This person collaborates with the Social Work Team Lead, Day Program Director, the President/CEO, Assistant to Director and all Shelter/Residential staff providing direction to program services and community linkages. This position provides the boots-on-the-ground management, client service supervision, program and staff leadership and community linkages in delivering excellent service for homeless and at-risk clients and guests.
The personnel of the Shelter/Residential Programs of St. Vincent de Paul of Baton Rouge collaborate with all St. Vincent de Paul staff by embracing all works of charity and justice. All staff collaborate with other people of good will in relieving need and addressing its causes, making no distinction in those served, because in them St. Vincent de Paul sees the face of Christ. All personnel of the Shelter/Residential Programs participate actively in the homeless Continuum of Care to coordinate services, maximize guest benefit, and minimize duplication of effort.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Experience & Training:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university/college.
Five years of social services experience and work with at-risk populations.
Two years of progressive supervisory and management experience.
A Class E Driver’s License and safe driving record.
Substitutions: High School Diploma or equivalent with extensive management experience in social services delivery.
Other Qualifications:
Ability to work cooperatively with St. Vincent de Paul staff and homeless guests to accomplish mission goals. .
Ability to use a computer, copier, fax and other office equipment. Must be able to data entry into HMIS system, use Microsoft Office products, Google products and use training and video equipment.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to sit and drive a car, van or small bus. Must be able to sit for long periods while working on computer, or talking with guests and community members. Must be able to move around buildings and in community. Must be able to stoop, lift and bend infrequently during the day.
Working Environment:
Position is in an office and community environment.
