St. Columbkille School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Classroom/Student Aide to support teachers and assist students in the classroom. This position will provide student support services, including one-on-one assistance for students. The children we serve face a variety of developmental, educational, and speech/language challenges they are working to overcome. You will collaborate with grade level teachers and our intervention team to offer support. The ideal candidate will be patient, organized, and committed to fostering a positive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers with classroom management and student supervision.
- Provide one-on-one support to students to help meet their academic and behavioral needs.
- In addition to inclusion classes, works with individual or small groups of students in pull-out sessions to work on basic skills or support IEP goals.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and modifications as needed.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor and support students in various school settings, including the classroom, hallways, and lunchroom.
- Communicate effectively with teachers and staff regarding student progress and needs.
- Works to guide, support, and encourage students with learning disabilities, Autism, orthopedic impairments, ADHD, and other health impairments or challenges.
- Advises and collaborates with school personnel and colleagues on how to best reach and teach each individual student.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education or related field preferred.
- Experience working with students in an educational setting is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff.
- Patience, flexibility, and a passion for supporting student success.
- BCI/FBI background check; Virtus training (or willing to be trained)
